Insurance for Wholesalers & Distributors

We place every line a distributor needs — commercial auto, workers' comp, umbrella and more — and we lead with the coverage that follows the goods: product liability, shopped across the carriers that understand distribution.

A full program, led by Product liability

Every coverage the warehouse requires — starting with the risk that follows the goods.

KHT places the complete commercial program for wholesalers and distributors: commercial property for the warehouse and inventory, commercial auto for the fleet, product liability, workers' compensation, umbrella, and the business owner's policy that bundles the essentials. Whatever your operation carries, we can quote it and bring it under one roof — so your certificates and renewals stop being a scramble across separate companies.

But we lead with product liability, because liability follows the goods you distribute downstream — even though you didn't manufacture them.

Product Liability & Distribution Risk

The exposure that follows product downstream: a good you distributed is alleged to have caused harm, and the claim can land on you even though you didn't make it.

It's also priced differently by what you move. A food distributor, a building-products wholesaler, and an equipment distributor don't face the same claims — and the carriers who compete for each aren't the same.

That's what an independent broker is for: matching your operation to the market that prices it best, instead of a one-size quote.

Property & inventory

The warehouse and the goods inside it — covered against fire, theft, and the damage that turns stock into a loss.

Commercial auto & fleet

The trucks and drivers moving your product, covered against the accidents that come with miles on the road.

Product liability

Claims tied to the goods you distribute — the exposure that follows product downstream even when you didn't make it.

If your business needs it, we likely write it.

Eighteen commercial lines across four areas — from the policies every business carries to specialty and surety coverage.

Distributors we place

Built for the range of wholesale and distribution.

What you move drives what you need, so we don't hand every distributor the same form. Tell us what you distribute and we'll ask what that operation actually requires.

Owners on your account

An established, owner-led team. When you call, you speak directly with the people responsible for protecting your business.

The renewal difference

Why timing is the A&E hot button.

Most design firms don't switch brokers because of a claim. They switch because their current broker put them in a corner — renewal terms the day before expiration, no time to shop. Here's how we run it instead.

At placement

We map the operation

We look at what you distribute, your inventory value, your fleet, and your revenue — and place it with insurance companies who price wholesalers fairly.

Ahead of renewal

We quote early

Your renewal gets shopped well before expiration, so you're comparing real options instead of accepting a last-minute number on a thin margin.

As you grow

The program scales

More trucks, more inventory, a new line of goods — we adjust coverage so it matches the operation as it actually is.

common questions

The questions Wholesalers ask.

Do I need product liability if I don't manufacture anything?

Often, yes. Liability can follow product downstream to distributors and wholesalers, not just the manufacturer. If a good you distributed is alleged to have caused harm, product liability responds. We'll size it to what you move.

How do you cover my fleet?

Commercial auto covers the vehicles and drivers moving your product, from a couple of box trucks to a full fleet. We'll structure it around how many vehicles you run and how far they travel.

Is my warehouse inventory covered against fire or theft?

Commercial property responds to inventory lost to covered events like fire and theft. Because a warehouse concentrates so much value, we'll set the limit carefully against your real inventory numbers.

A customer requires me to name them as additional insured — can you do that?

Yes. Retailers and buyers often require additional-insured status and specific limits in a distribution agreement. Send us the requirements and we'll place coverage that meets them, then issue the certificate.

Can you handle property, auto, and product together?

Yes — that's how we prefer to do it. One independent broker across the whole program means one renewal cycle, one point of contact, and no gaps between separately managed policies.

Do I have to move everything to work with you?

No. Many distributors come to us for product liability or fleet coverage first, then consolidate the rest later. There's no requirement — product liability is where we lead.

Quote your wholesale & distribution coverage.

Start with product liability or your whole program — tell us about your business and we'll shop it. Or call and talk it through with the people who'll actually handle your account.
