Insurance for Contractors

We place every line a contractor needs — general liability, commercial auto, workers' comp, tools and equipment, umbrella and more — and we lead with the coverage that gets you on the job: general liability, quoted fast and shopped hard on price.

A full program, led by GL

Every coverage the job requires — starting with the one that gets you on site.

KHT places the complete commercial program for contractors: general liability, commercial auto, workers' compensation, tools and equipment umbrella, and the business owner's policy that bundles the essentials. Whatever your operation carries, we can quote it and bring it under one roof — so your certificates, renewals, and changes stop being a scramble across four different companies.

General Liability

The policy that gets asked for first — third-party injury and property damage tied to your work, during the job and after you've finished and left the site.

It's also the coverage priced most differently from trade to trade. An electrician, a roofer, and a concrete contractor don't face the same claims — and the carriers who compete for each aren't the same either.

That's what an independent broker is for: matching your trade to the market that prices it best, and turning a certificate around when a job is waiting on it.

General liability

Third-party injury and property damage — during the job and after you've finished and left the site.

Tools, equipment & commercial auto

The gear you haul and the trucks you run, covered against theft, damage, and the accidents that happen on the road.

Workers' compensation

Medical and wage coverage when a crew member is hurt — required to keep you on most jobs and to keep your people protected.

If your business needs it, we likely write it.

Eighteen commercial lines across four areas — from the policies every business carries to specialty and surety coverage.

trades we place

Built for the artisan and trade contractor.

Every trade carries a slightly different risk, so there's no one-size contractor application. Tell us your trade and we'll ask only what that trade actually needs — no filling out a form only to get hit with thirty more questions.

Early renewal quotes

We quote your renewal well ahead of expiration — giving you time to review and compare, not a take-it-or-leave-it the day before.

Multiple carriers, lowest qualified quote

We shop across markets and recommend the best-fit, best-priced option.

Owners on your account

An established, owner-led team. When you call, you speak directly with the people responsible for protecting your business.

The renewal difference

Coverage that keeps up with the work.

Contractors don't have time to chase certificates or wait on a renewal that lands the day it expires. Here's how we keep your coverage ahead of the job instead of behind it.

DAY ONE

Fast certificates

Need a COI to get on a job? We turn certificates around quickly so a missing document never costs you a start date.

AHEAD OF RENEWAL

We quote early

Your renewal gets shopped well before expiration — so you're comparing real options, not rubber-stamping a last-minute number.

AS YOU GROW

The program scales

New trucks, new crew, a bigger job — we adjust the program as the business changes so your coverage matches what you're actually doing.

common questions

The questions Contractors ask.

Do I really need more than general liability?

For most contractors, yes. GL covers third-party claims, but it won't pay for your stolen tools, a wrecked work truck, or an injured crew member. We build the full program so you're not exposed on the lines GL doesn't touch — and you can still start with GL if that's the immediate need.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?

Quickly. We know a COI is often what stands between you and getting on the job, so certificate requests are a priority — call or email and we'll turn it around.

Can you cover my tools and equipment?

Yes. Contractor's equipment and tools coverage protects the gear you haul from job to job against theft and damage, whether it's on the truck, on the site, or in storage. We'll size it to what you actually carry.

A general contractor requires me to carry specific limits — can you meet that?

Almost always. GCs and project owners routinely dictate minimum GL limits and additional-insured status before you can start. Send us the contract or insurance requirements and we'll place coverage that meets them, then issue the certificate.

Will you write my workers' comp too?

Yes. We place workers' compensation alongside your GL, auto, and equipment so it's all with one broker — one renewal cycle, one point of contact, no juggling four companies.

Do I have to move everything to work with you?

No. Many contractors come to us for general liability or a certificate first. If it makes sense to consolidate the rest of the program later, we're glad to — but there's no requirement.

Quote your contractor coverage.

Start with general liability or your whole program — tell us about your business and we'll shop it. Or call and talk it through with the people who'll actually handle your account.
