Insurance for Manufacturers

We place every line a manufacturer needs — property, equipment, business interruption, workers' comp and more — and we lead with the coverage that follows what you make: product liability, shopped across the carriers that understand your operation.

A full program, led by Product liability

Every coverage the plant requires — starting with the risk that follows the product.

KHT places the complete commercial program for manufacturers: commercial property, equipment breakdown, business interruption, commercial auto, workers' compensation, umbrella, and the business owner's policy that bundles the essentials. Whatever your operation carries, we can quote it and bring it under one roof — so your renewals and certificates stop being a scramble across separate companies.

But we lead with product liability, because for a manufacturer the exposure doesn't stop when the product leaves the dock — it follows the goods downstream.

Product & Completed-Operations Liability

The risk that keeps creating liability long after you ship: a defect that injures a customer or damages their property can produce a claim years after the unit left your floor.

It's also priced differently by what you make. A metal fabricator, a food producer, and an electronics assembler don't face the same claims — and the carriers who compete for each aren't the same.

That's what an independent broker is for: matching your process to the market that prices it best, instead of a one-size quote.

Product liability

Defense and damages when a product you made is alleged to have injured someone or damaged their property — even years after it shipped.

Property, equipment & breakdown

The building, the inventory, and the machinery you depend on — covered against damage and mechanical or electrical failure.

Business interruption

The income and continuing expenses covered when a covered loss forces the line to stop — so a shutdown doesn't become a closure.

If your business needs it, we likely write it.

Eighteen commercial lines across four areas — from the policies every business carries to specialty and surety coverage.

Operations we place

Built for the range of manufacturing.

What you make drives what you need, so we don't hand every manufacturer the same form. Tell us your process and we'll ask what that operation actually requires.

●  Metal fabrication

●  Food & beverage

●  Plastics & injection molding

●  Electronics & assembly

●  Machine shops

●  Furniture & millwork

●  Chemical encodings

●  Building products

●  Contract manufacturers

Why place it through KHT

Specific things we do that most agencies don't.

Early renewal quotes

We quote your renewal well ahead of expiration — giving you time to review and compare, not a take-it-or-leave-it the day before.

Multiple carriers, lowest qualified quote

We shop across markets and recommend the best-fit, best-priced option.

Owners on your account

An established, owner-led team. When you call, you speak directly with the people responsible for protecting your business.

The renewal difference

Why timing is the A&E hot button.

Most design firms don't switch brokers because of a claim. They switch because their current broker put them in a corner — renewal terms the day before expiration, no time to shop. Here's how we run it instead.

At placement

We map the operation

We look at what you make, your process, your revenue, and your equipment — and place it with carriers that actually price your kind of manufacturing well.

Ahead of renewal

We quote early

Your renewal gets shopped well before expiration, so you're comparing real options rather than accepting a last-minute number.

As you grow

The program scales

New equipment, a new product line, a bigger footprint — we adjust coverage so it matches the operation as it actually is, not as it was last year.

common questions

The questions Manufacturers ask.

What's the difference between general and product liability?

General liability covers third-party injury and property damage tied to your premises and operations. Product liability covers claims that your finished product caused harm after it left you. Manufacturers need both, and we'll make sure neither is left thin.

Does my coverage follow the product after it ships?

That's the point of product and completed-operations coverage — a claim can surface long after the unit shipped, and the right policy responds even when the loss shows up years downstream. We size the limits to your exposure.

What happens to my income if a fire shuts the line down?

Business interruption coverage replaces lost income and covers continuing expenses while you rebuild after a covered loss — so an event that stops production doesn't put you out of business. We'll set the limit against your real numbers.

A customer requires me to name them as additional insured — can you do that?

Yes. Large buyers and retailers often require additional-insured status and specific limits in a supply agreement. Send us the requirements and we'll place coverage that meets them, then issue the certificate.

Can you handle property, product, and workers' comp together?

Yes — that's how we prefer to do it. One independent broker across the whole program means one renewal cycle, one point of contact, and no gaps falling between separately managed policies.

Do I have to move everything to work with you?

No. Many manufacturers come to us for product liability first, then consolidate the rest later. There's no requirement — product liability is where we lead.

Quote your manufacturing coverage.

Start with product liability or your whole program — tell us what you make and we'll shop it. Or call and talk it through with the people who'll actually handle your account.
